If you don’t sacrifice with purpose, you’re essentially sacrificing for nothing. Actions without a clear goal or benefit often feel meaningless and can lead to resentment or disappointment. Without a clear purpose, sacrifices might inadvertently harm yourself or others. Sacrificing without a clear reason can leave you feeling unfulfilled and questioning your choices. Others might take advantage of your selfless actions if they aren’t guided by a specific intention.
True sacrifice is about giving up something valuable for a greater good. It’s a conscious choice made with intention and purpose. Without this clarity, sacrifice becomes a random act with uncertain outcomes.
Don’t sacrifice your needs or desires to make someone else happy without considering your own well-being. Never give up your opinions or boundaries to maintain peace, even if it’s detrimental to your own happiness. Break from routines or traditions without questioning their value or impact on your life. Sacrificing opportunities or experiences due to anxiety or pressure to conform does not mean you are missing out.
I am in the process of designing a new life. A new me. A singular version of myself. The sacrifices I made, am making, and continue to make, will be fully intentional. The music can go, I’ll rebuild that when the time is appropriate. The crafting, building, and fixing will be on hiatus until it’s needed. Tools can be sold down to the bare minimum. Outdoors and sports will be a bare minimum, just the stuff I want for keeping healthy habits.
My time is the most important thing in my life. I will spend it wisely. Being with my family is priority. Being there for my son is of the utmost. I have already missed so much.
There were 2 options laid in front of me: take on a full time job with full time pay so that I could buy my ex wife out of the equity in the home, or sell the home and keep my schedule available for him. I’ll sacrifice the home for the greater good. I can live anywhere, I can’t miss another first step.
