Love Doesn’t Leave

Love is a glue that binds,
the twists and turns and winds.
A feeling somewhere inside,
you find about once in all time
Love builds the supports
to heal the occasional hurts,
pulls you from the deepest ruts,
and mutates you into an extrovert.
Love is the chemicals in the brain
that tolerates immense pain,
and a tremendous strength
to stop you from going full cobain.
Love is a mirror, clear and bright,
Reflecting truths, both dark and light.
It shows the depths, the hidden scars,
And whispers, “Grow, just as you are.”
Love, a fire that burns so bright,
Can cast shadows, wrong, and plight.
It stumbles, trips, and falls sometimes,
Leaving scars etched on hearts and minds.
Love can forget, with callous sting,
The promises on which hearts cling.
It can misjudge, with clouded sight,
And push away, in darkest night.
Though shadows dance and storms may rage,
Though hearts may break and turn the page,
Love’s truest essence, ever near,
Will echo soft, “I’m always here, love never leaves.”
