Kroger’s Sushi

I picked my niece up from her band competition. We both decided we were hungry and went to Kroger to get some sort of snack or something. Decided we should go look for the new Lunchly. They were out of stock of all six or so of the flavors so we took a minute to browse around and I decided I would like some sushi from the deli. So we walked over to the deli and started browsing sandwiches and sushi available. I looked at the sushi selection and there was a big heart-shaped container with sushi rolls shaped in a heart

We used to go to the Great Wall over by Illinois and Jefferson. We’d have dates there and get plates of sushi and Mongolian stir fry to share together. We would both eat off of the same plates. Shared everything we got from all the plates. It was romance novel levels of cuteness.

The sushi chef there loved us to death and we could place special orders with him. He would put the rolls in a heart shape on the plate for us. He must have noticed something special in us.

It had been a long time since we had the ability to go on a nice date. Seems like any time we would go out, it was a quick bite to eat and then binge drink until we were stupid. Either that or we would be working a show, which still had drinking involved.

I guess I’m madsad. A term coined by my son. There was sadness for the loss of the great times we built together. But also an anger for all the terrible times we built. Just MadSad.
